MasterClass: Tan France
Tan France is an internationally celebrated stylist, designer, and cohost of Queer Eye and Next in Fashion. In his MasterClass, Tan teaches how to find your personal style and build a wardrobe that fits your life. The graphics package explores solid colors and shapes to reflect his witty and vibrant personality.
Inspired by the set design and clothes used in the class, this direction visualizes Tan’s definition of style: Style is how to put things together to represent who you are. Fabrics with different patterns, colors, and textures are our central design elements, which are used to reveal Tan’s name and essential keywords of the class - style, proportion, color, pattern, etc. The movement of floating fabrics accentuates his playful brand.
This concept projects different textiles and patterns used in the class onto Tan’s photographs. Unique, unconventional type animation (stretching and squishing) adds dynamic movement and playfulness throughout the sequence and helps accentuate the essence of this class: Style is accessible to everyone.
This direction combines illustrations and photographs to depict Tan’s witty and fun personality. Starting with Tan’s repeated images, we dress him with illustrated outfits to highlight the fun of mix-and-match styles. By applying colorful illustrations on top of Tan’s photographs, this direction represents his playful, vibrant world of style.
Concept 3 was chosen, and I developed the final look and feel of the overall graphics package. This included the intro title, chapters, subchapters, lower thirds, and custom graphics. Graphic patterns are the central elements throughout the package, mixed with bold typography to accentuate Tan's personal brand.
